Updates
Sept. 13, 2009: One short Scriabin prelude is up: Op. 11, No. 9. It is dedicated -- like myself -- to my beloved Jenn, who has lit up my past month with a light hitherto unimaginable. :)
May 13, 2009: I just recorded and added the variation from Franck's Prelude, Fugue, et Variation. It's one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written, I'd say. See "Mp3 Recordings" to the left. Dedicated to Danny McCarthy, who has been asking me to learn and record the piece for years, for his birthday.
I plan to redo the prelude and fugue -- I'm far from pleased with them. Expect more recordings this summer. School has been insanely busy, so I have been unable to take time to record. 'Til next time!
September 15, 2007: I went on a recording spree and have the following four pieces up for you:
Scriabin - Prelude Op. 11 No. 15
Scriabin - Prelude Op. 11 No. 22
Scriabin - Prelude Op. 13 No. 3
Albeniz - Tango Op. 165 No. 2
Scriabin - Prelude Op. 11 No. 15
Scriabin - Prelude Op. 11 No. 22
Scriabin - Prelude Op. 13 No. 3
Albeniz - Tango Op. 165 No. 2
Also updated is the About Me section (see Miscellaneous, to the left), complete with a new picture. I am considering starting a blog for comments that I might want to add about pieces, among other things. More is to come, more is to come. I hope your Septembers, dark and stormy as they may have been, come to a splendid, happy close, full of good food and even better company.
February 1, 2007: I am still alive and well, I assure you. As it turns out, my old internet package expired recently, and I find myself wanting to give my homepage a new look. So, here you have it. All the old recordings are present. The reason for the recent lack of recordings is that the more I progress at the piano, the more difficult I find making a recording which sounds acceptable. I plan to record some more basic pieces to ease myself back into the recording process. Stay tuned.
July 24, 2006: I am back with a new recording. Written by Christian Pacaud and entitled "Paraphrase," it is an arrangement of Dragon's Prayer by Yasunori Mitsuda. This recording is the work's first recorded and publicly released human performance, so it is a world premiere of sorts. I hope you enjoy it! For more on the wonderful composer, please visit http://www.christianpacaud.com. More recordings are to come as the summer progresses.
As for news, I did not pass the audition for the University of Maryland last year. It turns out that they no longer accept music minors. By the way, since some asked - last year's audition pieces were Bach's prelude in D minor from the Well-Tempered Clavier book 1, the first movement of Beethoven's fifth sonata, Brahms' intermezzo in Eb minor, and Turina's La murciana guapa.
December 27, 2005: My sincere apologies for this very delayed update. I have been meaning to make new recordings and update the site for a few months now, and now that Christmas break has come, I have more time to do so. Rest assured that not a day has passed without my thinking of all of you. (Right...)
So far, I have recorded another sonata - K. 183 in F minor - by Scarlatti and re-recorded Turina's "La murciana guapa." I hope you enjoy them. I have also made a few slight adjustments to the website content and structure and added the option to mail donations to me. See "Mp3 Recordings" to the left. I plan to make a few more recordings and re-recordings, if not within the next few days, then after the 7th of January.
News: I also have plans to audition for the University of Maryland School of Music the 21st of January. The school is very competitive, so I need your prayers and good wishes for this audition - while my acceptance to the school will not determine my life and well-being, it is important to me.
Till next time, and have a happy Christmas and a merry New Year!
P.S. If you have sent me a message and I seem to have ignored you, just keep bothering me until I respond. Sometimes things get busy to the point where I can't respond to all the emails I would like to respond to without losing sleep. I usually try to get to everybody eventually, but sometimes a message will slip under my radar.
August 13, 2005: I have returned, and I bring news. First, I have changed the domain name of this page to http://www.mtpiano.com. Change your bookmarks. Unlike the old name, this domain name will not pester you with pop-ups or odd advertisement pages, and it is fast as lightning. Therefore, each visit which you make to this page will be a much more blissful experience than in times past.
As for actual updates to the page, I have added some recordings and changed a few things here and there. The first two which I have posted are Turina's La Murciana Guapa and Bach's Prelude and Fugue in D Minor (WTC I). If all goes well, more will come in the near future. Click on "Mp3 Recordings" to the left, and look for bold print. Enjoy!
8th of April, 2005: Two little changes/additions:
First, I have rearranged the "Mp3 Recordings" section. It is less compact, but it makes much more sense. It is also much easier to update.
Second, I have added a newsletter to the site (see above), for your convenience. Whenever I update the page from now on, I will send out a newsletter to everyone who has signed up to let them know what is new. So, if you would like to be kept up to date on additions to this page: click on the "Sign up for my newsletter" link, enter at least your email, click on "Subscribe", and you will be set. 'Til next time!
Christmas Season Updates: (Bo Nadal)
- Scarlatti - Sonatas - K.197: New Recording, K.466: Re-recorded
- Granados - Orientale: New Recording
- Debussy - Prelude "La Fille aux Cheveux de Lin": Re-recorded
- Franck - Prelude (from Prelude, Fugue, and Variation): Re-recorded
- Bach - Sinfonia No. 7 in E Minor: Re-recorded
January 3, 2005: Seeing that I've been living in Spain for a while, and Spanish music is beautiful, it would only be sane for me to learn and record some Spanish music. So, here we have Granados' Orientale, from his set of Spanish dances.
(Oh no, the allure of the American date-writing convention is starting to overcome me...)
29th of December, 2005: More, more, more. Today, I have more re-recordings - Scarlatti's K.466 Sonata, Franck's Prelude, and Debussy's Prelude, "La fille aux cheveux de lin..." (The girl with the flaxen hair...). Enjoy.
28th of December, 2005: So, it is about time for an actualization of my page web. Lamentably, to cause of my asistance to a university in Spain, my English has forgotten itself to me. What strong, I feel it. Well, give same, no? You understand, I am sure. I hope this doesn't put you of bad milk, and again, I feel it.
Notices. I am back in the United States, in the Land of Mary, it seems. It is well to be back with my old friends and my fathers (and, with eventuality, my brother). As you might have noticed, I have not had the opportunity to make grabations in enough time. Er, I mean, recordings - pardon, my autobus ride and plane flights must be making hurt to me, still. Without indigestion, now, I have that ability. For that, I will grabate music over the vacations, and perhaps add to the page web. You may find the list of the work I have done over the entire season above. Today, I have Scarlatti's K.197 Sonata and a re-recording of Bach's Sinfonia No. 7 for download.
Well nothing. I hope, as always, that you disfruit them. More will come if I am still living and healthy.
P.S. Don't preoccupy yourself about my English - I'm just taking your hair. You know, scratching you. Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year.
September 12, 2004 - Recorded: Villa-Lobos - Prelude, from Bachianas Brasileiras No. 4.
August 20, 2004 - Recorded: Beethoven - Sonata Op. 10 No. 1, Mvt. 2, minor changes added here and there.
July 12, 2004 - New recording: Bach - Prelude no. 21 in Bb major, WTC I. Another fun piece. Expect another recording of it once I become... er, better. I hope you like it!
July 2, 2004 - New preliminary recording: Beethoven - Sonata in C minor, Op. 10, No. 1, Mvt. 1. I hope you like it. It's a very fun piece to play. It is a preliminary recording, so I plan to make a new recording of it once I become more comfortable with the piece. On a somewhat unrelated note, I also updated the link to Mr. Chang's book on piano practice, so take a look at the "Links" section. I hope you all have a great summer.
May 31, 2004 - Yes, I am still alive. Sorry for the recent dearth of updates. I've been a bit bogged by school work (finals, etc.), and I haven't really had a good opportunity to update this site for a while. But, all that stuff is over now, so here I am.
With regards to news: I've won this year's concerto competition at my school for the second time, getting a more than decent 500 dollar check (it would be a scholarship for the next year, but guess who will be graduating this year...). And, speaking of graduations, I'll be graduating this weekend!
Now, with regards to actual updates to the site: I've added a recording of Bach's Sinfonia No. 7 in E minor to the website. I re-recorded Scarlatti's sonata, the Chopin's Raindrop prelude, and Bach's 8th Invention a few weeks ago, as well (I plan to re-record a number of my other posted recordings over the Summer). I updated the "Links" section, and I added a picture of myself to the "About me?" section, as was requested. I also updated little things here and there, like the "Currently learning..." section. Check it all out.
March 16, 2004 - Two new recordings added - Mozart's Fantasie in D Minor, and Chopin's prelude No. 6. You can also access this site by going to http://www.mtm-piano.tk, which is a bit easier to remember than the other incomprehensible name. I also re-recorded the Chopin Prelude No. 4, and Forever Rachel. Listen away!
Jan. 22, 2004 - Big update - I have added a new recording of Chopin's Prelude in e minor. It's my first recording since I started lessons with my new teacher, Mr. Matt Harre, a little less than a month ago. It's nothing incredibly technically astounding, but it's still quite a fine piece of music. I updated/added/rearranged some pages, and put a donate button in the Mp3 Recordings page. If you want to help me out, donate a dollar or two, ok? I don't think I would be able to thank you enough. ! I also added the intro screen, which I've been messing with for a little while. Enjoy.
Dec. 23, 2003 - Alright, I made a few minor updates, and I re-recorded Bach's 2nd Invention. Look for more re-recordings and new recordings when I get back from St. Thomas. That is, the 29th, or thereabouts. Happy holidays, everyone.
Dec. 7, 2003 - New recording added! Scarlatti's Sonata in F Minor it is. Listen away.
Nov. 27, 2003 - Design change! I don't think I will change this format for a while...
Nov. 21, 2003 - Changed is the minor error in the first post, due to the assertions of the child eating one. Changed is the error in the second post. Changed is the home page. Added is a piece to the "Currently Learning..." list. Added is some anaphora, for the sake of a certain Peter Hadley. Latin... The Romans played frisbee, you know. Iace discum mihi. Yeah. Right.
Nov. 17, 2003 - And... *drum roll please* the files have been added! I also added a "Currently learning..." section. I expected to have a more difficult time with these things, since it has been a real pain in the neck to figure out how to use this site so far. But no more. I am now the master.
